Agartala, October 5 (TIWN): The social media attracted huge attention after an official user in the name of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar was floated on Facebook.
The social media page was updated on October 03 with a post titled ‘Save Animal and Enjoy Eid’. The statement was directly against animal slaughter on the Holy Eid.
The statements caught immediate attention of the social media users as it was largely taken as an incitement against the observances of Islam.
A highly placed source in the CPI (M) Tripura state committee today said that the post attracted the attention of Chief Minister Sarkar.
Asked about it, the Chief Minister flatly denied that he neither has any e mail id, facebook account or a Facebook page. The page itself is a fake one created with malafide intention, the source said.
“He has not authorized anyone to open any facebook page in his name. So it is clear that a section is intentionally using his name and photographs to create confusion with evil intention. The e mail id used in the page too has no connection with the office of the Chief Minister”, the source claimed.
The party has come out directly to save the Chief Minister and said that the post was done with ill motive. The party source further threatened that legal action would be initiated against the page moderator.
Eid Al-Adha is a holiday marking the end of the Hajj, the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca which is one of the greatest religious observances in Islam.
