AGARTALA, October 4 (TIWN): The prices of vegetables and fish increased on the retail market in the capital due to supply shortage and higher transportation cost ahead of Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakr-Id), which is also known as Eid al-Adha, said traders of the city here today. Eid-ul-Zuha will be celebrated on October 6.
The traders further said that the supply of fish and vegetables decreased in the city due to Eid and the truckers were charging extra money as most of the trucks were engaged in carrying sacrificial animals. Due to national holiday on 2nd October in India and holiday of Eid at Bangladesh, import and export was also not possible, a trader mentioned.
The mosque and its surrounding streets of the city gets packed with devotees who come from every corner of the city to offer their holy prayers. People get dressed in their best attires and come out on streets to celebrate the occasion. Traditional bakeries, confectioneries, snacks counters and restaurants serve lip-smacking dishes during the celebration.
