AGARTALA, October 2 (TIWN): Having its primitive traditional roots in the ancient world of royal dynasties and kingdom which ranges from mythological epic Mahabharata to Manikya reigns, Tripura is blessed enough to boast on its rich historical sites and saga. Be it Unakoti, Pilak, or Ujjayanta Palace the state has an immense essence of history’s splendid and untold stories being depicted by the architecture and sculptures of different kingdoms built over the last centuries.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is already maintaining and protecting number of historical sites of Tripura like Unakoti, Pilak, Boxanagar and some temples at Udaipur. These historical monuments are not only the flag bearing historical places of Tripura but also act as a sound revenue source as attractive tourist destinations.
Furthermore, fresh new monumental sites – Mughal Mosque (Udaipur), Chandrapur Mosque of Rajnagar (Belonia), Temple of Daitya Bari (Udaipur), Vishnu Temple (North Western corner of Amarsagar), Dol Mancha (right side of Badarmokam road) and Sonamura’s Gazir Kot have been referred to the ASI for protection and maintenance by the state government. It is very obvious that if proper care is not ensured all those historically significant sites will lose themselves in the ashes of time and the upcoming generations will remain aloof of their history, culture and ancestors.
