AGARTALA, Dec 27 (TIWN): Reacting over the undemocratic election, Congress has slammed the BJP Govt on Thursday alleging police, Election Commission jointly operated the undemocratic election with BJP Govt today.
“We though BJP will rectify itself after Panchayat election, but instead of rectifying, this Municipal election has proven what is going on across the state under BJP rule. People were not allowed to cast votes, oppositions were attacked and finally democracy was murdered”, said Congress spokesperson Harekrishna Bhowmik to media.
“The violence started across the state since yesterday. Entering houses, candidates were attacked. It’s a shame that police and election commission have supported BJP for the undemocratic voting”, said Bhowmik.
“In Agartala we gave candidates for four seats. In Ward No-35’s 3 booths open poll rigging was done and in this way all booths were captured by BJP. In front of police and polling personnel opposition leaders, candidates were pushed back but unfortunately nobody took any action”, said Bhowmik.
