AGARTALA, Dec 25 (TIWN): BJP has paid tribute to former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary today across Party offices.
At BJP Headquarter at Krishnanagar, Subal Bhowmik, BJP Vice President paid floral tribute to Vajpayee.
Various campaignings were organized on Vajpayee’s birth anniversary today including blood donation camps.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee would have turned 94, had he been alive today. Born on this day (December 25) in 1924, in Gwalior, Vajpayee achieved heights that few did in independent India. In 1957, at the young age of 32, he became a Lok Sabha MP, representing the Balrampur constituency.
This was just the beginning of his extraordinary journey in the corridors of power and politics. In his five-decade long political journey, Vajpayee served as a Lok Sabha MP for nine terms and was member of the Rajya Sabha on two occasions. He emerged as a strong Opposition voice during the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi and was jailed with the likes of Jayprakash Narayan, Lal Krishna Advani, George Fernandes and others.
