AGARTALA, Dec 24 (TIWN): FIR has been lodged against four police officials of Baijol-outpost 1) OC-Sukanta Debbarma, 2) SI-Subir Debbarma, 3) Head Constable Shyamal Debbarma, 4) Constable Nilkamal Debbarma for harassing, touring a 23 years youth led him to commit suicide out of insult.

In the name of anti-drug movement, one youth Pritam Debbarma was arrested by police from his home when he was with his friends and allegedly brutally tortured him in lockup.

Pritam was arrested in the absence of his parents at home. From afternoon 4 pm to 9 pm he was harassed, beaten and tortured.

After returning home, Pritam was constantly crying and he committed suicide at his room in the midnight.

Deceased Pritam's uncle Sudhir Debbarma has lodged an FIR against 4 police officials including Baijol outpost for torturing Pritam, but so far no action was taken against any of the police officials. During FIR, Sudhir Debbarma was threatened not to mention that police harassed or tortured Pritam. After taking lawyer’s help this FIR was lodged against four police officials by the victim family.
