DAMCHARA (North Tripura), Dec 24 (TIWN): Once again, dog smuggling has been alleged as fresh footages came from Damchara area while smuggling dogs.

Huge numbers of dogs are being smuggled through Damcherra for various Northeast states, specially Mizoram.

Street dogs are mostly victims of that racket. Apart from street dogs, domestic dogs which are found unchained are taken from roads or houses for smuggling.

Police’s role is not at all satisfactory in this regard and resentments have brewed among the locals in North Tripura with the rising smuggling of dogs.

The dogs are not only killed after smuggling but in the footages, it’s seen they are tortured, beaten mercilessly.
