AGARTALA, Dec 20 (TIWN): Tension has gripped a major section of the capital city Agartala’s people as the claimed “purified” water given through pipelines have proven as “poisonous”. The truth was revealed after Micro Biology Dept tested the water.

From AMC it has been declared that E Coli bacteria was found in water supplied to the households from College Tilla area.

Also people were suggested only to drink the water after boiling it at high temperature. Banamalipur, Shibnagar, Dhaleswar areas are mostly affected.

Already many were hospitalized.

It can be mentioned here that E. coli in water is a strong indicator of sewage or animal waste contamination. E. coli is a microscopic organism that indicates fecal contamination of drinking water.

It has proven that the water was supplied to the locals was not at all pure, rather mixed with sewage or animal waste contamination.
