TIWN Dec 17, 2018

AGARTALA, Dec 17 (TIWN): With a major jolt for the State Education Dept, 5000 book sellers of Tripura filed a petition in the High Court as Govt’s decision of introducing NCERT syllabus has causes huge burdens of losses to them.
BJP led State Govt has decided to change the syllabus and curriculum structure according to NCERT from 2019, January which is totally unexpected, without pre-plan and informing the book sellers. From the Govt side, no compensation has been allocated to the book-sellers.
Earlier, it was said that from 2020 the new syllabus will be introduced but the new Govt didn’t follow the previous Govt’s decision and suddenly changed the syllabus from the next month itself. It has caused huge losses to them.
Suffocated under this massive losses, now the book-sellers have moved High Court voicing against the decision of the State Govt.
‘All Tripura Books and Publishers Association’ earlier urged the State Govt to withdraw the sudden decision as they also bought, stored the books according to previous syllabus.
‘All Tripura Books and Publishers Association’ Secretary Uttam Chakraborty said, the next haring of the case is on 19th December.
He said that the Association is not against the State Govt, but if the Govt had followed other states’ model of syllabus changing, then such a massive loss would not occur to them.
