AGARTALA, Dec 16 (TIWN): Taking a dig at CPI-M’s demand of MGNREGA works and media criticism on statewide poverty, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb said that MGNREGA work can not be the measurement for development.
Biplab Deb was addressing at Agartala Press Club to the legal cell of the party when he said so.
Deb said, a state is measured for IT growth, growth of infrastructure, Education but not on MGNREGA works.
However, the BJP Govt has been facing criticism as the Govt has slashed MGNREGA mandays and far from increasing wages which it promised to be increased at Rs. 340 at least once BJP comes in power.Various infrastructure development was done by MGNREGA workers.
Moreover, earlier MGNREGA works held for 5-6 days in a month whereas hardly 2 days of works are available now a days. In a poor state like Tripura, MGNREGA works needed in the long run.
Biplab Deb however added, after 5 years he will take the report card to the public and they will decide whether to vote for BJP or not.
