AGARTALA, Dec 11 (TIWN): CPI-M’s farmer union leader Narayan Kar has asked the Govt to buy rice from farmers at Rs. 2775, claiming the Govt has announced merely Rs. 1750 per quintal may not even give the farmers the production price.
Narayan Kar said, before the Election Narendra Modi place to place promised that the rice will be bought from farmers at 1.5 times more prices, whereas now the Govt is not ready to give the production cost for rice.
Narayan Kar also alleged the farmers’ suicide has increased 42% under Narendra Modi Govt.
Targeting Chief Minister Biplab Deb, Narayan Kar said, when Biplab Deb time to time promising to double farmers income, has now announced Rs. 1750 per quintal rice which is unfortunately not even equal to production price.
