AGARTALA, Nov 17 (TIWN): Expansion of Agartala Airport into International Airport has fueled chaos in the local areas centering the land-acquisition.
Local people of Usha-Bazaar to Lankamura area came in heavy protest as due to the Airport Expansion the roadway which was earlier 22 ft long has turned 12 ft long.
Local people earlier demanded that it should be 22 ft long like earlier but as Govt is going to allocate only 12 ft roadway for them, the road has turned one-way.
Protesting against the incident, public staged demonstration for hours led the local MLA to rush to the spot.
Agartala Airport, officially known as Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, is a domestic airport located 12 kilometres northwest of the city of Agartala, the capital of the state of Tripura in India. It is administered by the Airports Authority of India. It will be converted into international Airport and the Airport Expansion work is going under that project.
