Agartala, Sept 27 (TIWN): Students should avail the opportunities of education instead of playing ‘number game’ in the examinations, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Council (AMC)- Dr. Prafullajit Sinha Saturday said in the Sadar sub-divisional Dr. BR Ambedkar memorial merit award giving ceremony at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan. The programme was organized by the initiative of Sadar Sub Divisional Magistrate Office.
While addressing the gathering, SInha asserted that the state Tripura is having a good number of opportunities in course of education comparing to the other states of the country. But students play some foul games in the name of competition. Students should avoid ‘number game’ to secure better future, said Mayor adding students should focus on extra curriculums too, added Mayor.
Altogether 1067 Scheduled Cast (SC) students (VI to IX) from 97 schools under Sadar sub-division, who have secured 60 percent or above marks in the annual examination, last year have received this award. Among them, 277 students of class VI bagged Rs 400 each while a total of 313 students of class VII received Rs 400 each. Altogether 351 students of class VIII were awarded with Rs 400 each. Overall 126 students of class IX including 56 boys and 70 girls have received Rs 700 each.
The Sabadhipati of Zilla Parishad, West Tripura district- Dilip Das, Mayor-in-Council, AMC- Bipad Bandhu Hrishidas, DM and collector, West district- Abhishek Singh, Director of SC and OBC Welfare Department- R.M. Malakar, Chairman of SC Welfare Sub Committee, AMC- Madhab Majumder and Chairman of SC Welfare Sub Committee, Dukli RD block- Pran Gour Das were remained present in the ceremony.
The vice-chairman of Tripura Planning Commission- Anil Sarkar and SC & OBC Welfare Minister- Ratan Bhowmik were supposed to attend the ceremony but they could not.
