AGARTALA, Nov 10 (TIWN): Even though it was earlier announced that Tripura’s metre gauge will be kept in Tripura museum, but on Friday it was taken for Lumding through train and from there it will taken in a museum. This incident has brewed resentment among the locals of Agartala Railway Station.
It has been known that at a museum in Assam, the metre gauge engine will be kept, will not return back to Tripura.
Metre-gauge railways are narrow-gauge railways with track gauge of 1,000 mm or 1 metre. It was said that metre gauge's remaining will be used to boost tourism industry.
Metre gauge was used before state was introduced with broad gauge in 2016.
