AGARTALA, September 26 (TIWN): The former Additional Chief Secretary (Addl. CS) of Tripura K.V.Satyanarayana, known for his trustworthiness, obedience to the Chief Minister Manik Sartkar, during his not so earlier Tripura days, will be appointed as the new state Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Tripura. He will be sworn in by the Governor P.Balakrishnacharya, tomorrow, at 11 am at Raj Bhawan.
B. K. Chakraborty, the last Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) completed his tenure of five years on 18.01.2011 and the State selected the new Commission with Shri Shashi Prakash, IAS (Retd) former Chief Secretary to the Govt. as Chief Information Commissioner and Smt. S. Banerjee, IAS (Retd), former Principal Secretary to the Govt. as State Information Commissioner who started functioning from 19.01.2011. Subsequently, Shri Shashi Prakash, Chief Information Commissioner resigned on 06.10.2011 and Smt. Shyamalima Banerjee has been functioning alone.
Now, the reliability of one of the top notch constitutional chairs can be seen as an hoax amidst the former Addl CS’s close association with the present Chief Minister of the state. The state, thus, is going to have a CIC after a gap of nearly 4 years. And the reason of the unwanted vacancy in such a significant post is not in the scene, as of now.
