AGARTALA, September 25 (TIWN): In his attempt to curb smuggling of PDS commodities, SDM (Sadar) Manik Lal Das along with officials seized 19 bags of flour and 9 bags of wheat during a raid at Maharaj Ganj Bazaar under East Agartala Police Station here this evening.

Acting on a tipoff SDM (Sadar) Manik Lal Das along with his team conducted a raid during the raid they seized  19 bags of flour and 9 bags of wheat from a truck bearing number TR01-L-1924. On spotting the officials the driver of the truck fled the scene. The officials examined and found the flour and the wheat contained in bags.

Speaking to TIWN Manik Lal Das said that we have been receiving complaints about sale of PDS wheat and flour in the local market as well as their supply to places outside the district. We have seized the vehicle and case has been registered in the East Agartala Police Station. So far no arrest has been made, he added.
