AGARTALA, Oct 21 (TIWN): Capital city Agartala's streets remained overcrowded on Sunday with Dashami Jatra celebration led heavy traffic jams in the afternoon, evening even till late night.
Almost all the clubs are completing the Bisarjan ritual, which marks the final ending of Durga puja as the huge sized Durga idol is immersed in the river.
But the Dashami Jatra had crippled the vehicle movement as the Dashami Ghat is directly connected with highways, national highway lined routes on Howrah river bank. As a result traffic movement almost paused for hours whereas till late night the vehicle movement remained slow.
The situation is same on national highways (till news publication at 10.55 pm) also and long distance bus service also hit as thousands of clubs have practiced this immersion (Bisharjan) process and joined at Dashami Ghat from various corners of the city.
The formal ending of Durga puja this year was on October 19 with "Bijoya Dasami" but till today various clubs are organizing cultural programmes.
Immersion to be continued till tomorrow but maximum clubs have immersed Durga idols today.
