Agartala, September 25 (TIWN): The state government is in the process of reviewing and revising incentives to industrial groups to boost manufacturing sector in the state, Industries and Commerce Director Praveen Agrawal said today.
Speaking at an interactive meeting organized by FICCI in Guwahati today, Agrawal said that Tripura held potential for economic growth to a higher trajectory and provide more employment avenues. The state government has already tried its best in improving business environment, the official said adding that stress is being laid on providing further incentives for bamboo, rubber based industries.
Agrawal today batted for better connectivity with the neighbouring countries for alternate trade routes in the region and said that increased connectivity with neighbouring countries, especially Bangladesh would be a key ingredient for making the state and the NE a manufacturing hub.
The FICCI lauded the central government initiative to position India as a key manufacturing hub. The NER has the potential and should take advantage of its geographic location for positioning itself as a manufacturing hub for the entire sub-region including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and Thailand, FICCI said in an official communiqué.
The trade consortium admitted that licensing and granting system in Tripura were comparatively easier in Tripura even without a Single Window System. Taxation Norms and incentivization process needs to have synchronization at central and state levels.
