AGARTALA, Oct 18 (TIWN): Durga Puja is being celebrated in many parts of the country on the occasion of Maha Navami.
Devotees in large numbers thronged temples and offered their prayers on the ninth day of Navratri, also known as Navami.
With the Maha-Navami, the feeling of farewell of Devi Durga has gripped the state as with Bijoya Dasami Devi Durga will depart from Earth for more another year from her parental home (Martya Lok).
At the marquees and the households worshiping the Goddess, people 'Partook Bhog' (community feast of food items offered to the Goddess first), comprising a varied spread from 'luchis' (deep fried puffed bread) to 'khichuri', vegetable items, to fish and even mutton. Navratri, the nine nights Hindu festival is observed every year in October. The ninth day of Navratri is celebrated as Navami and holds a special significance.
