Agartala, Sept 23 (TIWN): A 5-member delegation of the joint forum of left democratic and nationalist organizations of government, semi-govt. undertaking employees, workers and teachers today visited with the Governor- P.B. Acharyya at Raj Bhavan and urged to take necessary steps on the lowest pay structure in the state.
In a letter to the Governor, the delegation expressed that it is due to the non implementation of sixth Central Pay Commission and central rates Dearness Allowances (DA). To achieve its goal the left front government of the state has not followed the guidelines and norms of the Thirteenth Finance Commission as well.
While visiting to the Governor, the delegation informed about the Grade Pay, Dearness Allowances (DA), salary structure in comparison to the central govt. employees, teacher’s salary and lower basic pay including many other issues in the state.
According to the letter to Governor, the role of the Tripura state government not only deprives the state employees and teachers but also affects state economy and it is already manifested in the per capita income of the state which is far below in compare with the most of the North-East special categories of states.
The delegation also mentioned in the letter that the employees and workers of public sector undertakings of the state are getting pay and allowances at par with state government employees but they have been deprived of govt. pension benefits which are arbitrary and inhuman. Now they are following average monthly pension of Rs. 500 to Rs. 2000 per month as per EPF pension scheme which is not applicable in their case. As a result, vast numbers of retired employees being frustrated and facing extreme poverty have committed suicide.
The 5-member delegation headed by joint conveners of the joint forum- Kanu Lal Debnath and Samar Roy urged to the Governor to take up and remove the issues to the left front rule government in the state.
