Agartala, September 23: After 24 hours of stalemate, disrupted train services in the Agartala-Lumding route resumed operation on Tuesday though debris that blocked rail tunnel point in Teliamura sub-division couldn’t be completely cleared till latest reports came in, official sources said.
Sudden mudslides left huge piles of debris at Wakshimalum, some 35 Km away from Teliamura township on Monday.
The Agartala-Lumding train was stalled at Badharghat rail station at Agartala on Monday after a sudden landslide blocked the rail tracks in front of Wakshimalum railway tunnel point.
Local sources said that the landslide at Wakshimalum, 35 Km away from Teliamura, left huge piles of mud and stone debris near the railway tunnel point, barring movement of trains.
The 52580 Dharmanagar-Agartala and 52575 Agartala-Dharmanagar trains were cancelled on Monday after the landslide hit the tracks. The 52579 morning local train from Agartala to Dharmanagar was cancelled on Tuesday morning. Passengers expecting to travel by the train at 11 AM this morning later took the 11:30 AM Agartala-Lumding express train.
