AGARTALA / BELONIA, Oct 4 (TIWN): Ex-Finance Minister CPI-M MLA Badal Choudhury has slammed the ruling BJP for acute food crisis ongoing across ADC areas at South Tripura.
Badal Choudhury alleged, due to less MGNREGA works, food crisis started to grip tribal populated areas at South Tripura leading massive starvation.
"Only 22 mandays of MGNREGA works held in whole South Tripura District under the new Govt. As a result food crisis has occupied the families", said Badal Choudhury.
Few of the affected areas are : Sripur, Maluram Bari, Sonaibari Ratanpur under Hrishyamukh block, along with Ramnagar Jolai Bari block's various areas.
"We have met the people of those areas. Due to lack of MGNREGA works they are unable to manage two times meals and also because of bio-metric system's introduction they can't take grains from the ration shops", Choudhury told media.
