AGARTALA, Oct 2 (TIWN): Along with the nation, Gandhi Jayanti has been observed on Tuesday here in Tripura to commemorate the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (October 2, 1869 - January 30, 1948) in several parts the state.
Congress led by leader Gopal Roy paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhighat. Also before Congress Bhawan a programme was conducted to mark the occasion.
At Circuit house Jail Minister Manindra Reang along with other people gathered to observe Gandhi Jayanti in innovative ways that included offering flowers on Gandhi's pictures, statues and singing his favourite devotional song Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram.
A road rally was also organized by the 2 October committee which moved across several parts of the streets and the rally ended in front of the Congress Bhawan. Opposition leader Sudip Roy Barman, party president Birajit Sinha along with other party members paid floral tribute to the father of the nation and also paid floral tribute at the Gandhi memorial.
