Agartala, September 20(TIWN): In an attempt to revive the struggling organizational structure of the Congress frontal organizations in Tripura, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) today announced names of new presidents for Mahila Congress in Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Punjab.
An official statement communiqué released by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary said today that the AICC vice president and in-charge of Mahila Congress – Rahul Gandhi declared Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress gets Kalyani Roy as president.
Added to it, Kamala Lingi would be the chief of Arunachal Pradesh Mahila Congress while Kittu Grewal as president of Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress.
Reacting to the issue later this evening, a senior leader of the Tripura Pradesh Mahila Congress said that no good is expected to come out of the reshuffle.
Most key members of the frontal organization are still those who were chosen as close aides of a former Tripura PCC president under whose stewardship the party suffered horrific defeats in three consecutive elections - assembly, Lok Sabha and three tier panchayat election.
Sources in the PCC said that most frontal organizations of the party would get new directions very soon anyway as most frontal bodies have got new operational committees.
