AGARTALA, Sep 11 (TIWN): On the last date of submitting nomination papers for Tripura's upcoming by-election, Duklu block was hit with pre-poll violence under BJP Govt resulted in a massive clash between Police and BJP's violent activists. Following the trend of BJP goondaraj during 'Bharat Bandh' when the activists forced businessmen to open the shutter of their shops, on Tuesday when Congress leaders went to submit nomination papers led by Congress President Birjit Sinha were also attacked violently. The BJP goons attacked on the vehicle of the Congress leaders, broke the glass even didn't leave old woman to get beaten. Till 2 pm 5 Congress activists were brought in IGM hospital. BJP MLA Ram Prasad Pal, Congress President Birjit Sinha both were on spot when the incident took place. The block BDO then called a meeting with both parties. When ending the meeting Congress leaders were coming back, again BJP goons attacked the Congress leaders. TIWN has captured footages of how including women BJP activists were attacking Congress President's vehicle.
Police took action on spot and left 7 to 8 BJP activists injured in lathi charge. 5 Police officials were injured by BJP activists by stone pelting. All are admitted in Hapania hospital.
