AGARTALA, Aug 29 (TIWN): CPI-M leaders once again have been attacked during fund raising for flood hit Kerala, in a press conference Ex-Minister cum MLA Ratan Bhowmik and MP Shankar Prasad Datta have said this.
CPI-M started this collection from August 21st and to be continued till August 31st but they are continuously facing attacks during the collection.
Ratan Bhowmik has suspected jealousy of BJP seeing people are willingly giving money and as also CPI-M is becoming closer to the public by this move.
Udaipur areas are known as safe-zones for BJP vote banks and BJP's base is very strong at there and as a result multiple attacks have been faced by the CPI-M whenever they went for any rally or any kind of party activity.
Ratan Bhowmik said, "We didn't carry even a single flag with us but people were helping us with full support. We told police regarding this party programme but when we were near to the police station BJP activists started screaming asking people not to give money to us. However we crossed the way and when was at New Town road the same activity started by BJP goons".
"Again, they attacked when we were at Central road".
"This time it was physical attack. First they snatched our festoon and then they tried to snatch the charity-box. Soon, they physically attacked our senior leaders Brajalal Das and Sachindra Lal. We complained the police over phone but police didn't come. When we were near to police station then SDPO came out but still the BJP were coming behind us. However, then we entered the party office".
The CPI-M leaders alleged that similar attacks were held in many places by BJP during fund collection.
