AGARTALA, Aug 23 (TIWN): With another shocking note, West District Police have permitted NC Debbarma’s IPFT for mass gathering at Khumulwng, but asked Budhu Debbarma’s IPFT not to gather over 50 activists at Nandannagar.
It was the observation of Statehood Demand Day of IPFT party. IPFT has been a separatist party demanding a separate state for the tribals, but after bribery charges came against the party President NC Debbarma arguments started in the party and IPFT was divided in two divisions : 1) one is IPFT (of NC Debbarma), 2) another is IPFT-Tipraha (of Budhu Debbarma).
But NC Debbarma’s IPFT in alliance with BJP came in power, whereas Budhu Debbarma’s IPFT-Tipraha lost in the election.
Today like every year IPFT parties are observing this day as their Statehood Demand Day, but Police have allegedly shown biasness while giving permission.
IPFT-Tipraha was not permitted for 12 hours demonstration and police asked them to go back by completing 3 hours of demonstration with ‘not above than 50 people’.
Budhu Debbarma said that it’s unlawful, unconstitutional and warned further that such should not be repeated.
