AGARTALA, Aug 17 (TIWN): Following Central Govt's announcement on seven-day national mourning, Tripura has also flown the national flags half-mast on Friday, to be continued for next 6 days.
The national flag will be flown at half mast throughout India and Indian missions abroad between August 16 and 22 -- the period of national mourning.
The late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's cremation is at Smriti Sthal on the banks of river Yamuna today.
As a mark of respect to the departed soul, the Central government offices has been closed for half day on Friday afternoon in Delhi and across the country, along with the Central Public Sector Undertakings.
Tripura's maximum institutions are also closed as a part of tribute to the former Prime Minister of India.
The Cabinet also decided that there will be no official entertainment during the entire period of state mourning.
