AGARTALA, Aug 12 (TIWN): When oppositions are claiming about "Lynching of Democracy" under BJP Govt's 5 months with a woman was mass beaten to death on August 8 night near East Agartala PS, a 15 years boy Tamal Das was left coma to die after allegedly beaten by Police Official and his nephew, thieves are dominating the state day-night, Chief Minister Biplab Deb while addressing in Lotus Club's blood donation camp on Sunday said, "Crime rate has been downed in Tripura, which is said not by me but by data". CM further raised question, why the Police were unable to arrest the criminals earlier under the previous govt ? "The same DGP A K Shukla was heading the Police Dept, IG-Law & Order was same K V Sreejesh but why they could not act ? Total 7 thieves were arrested on yesterday night and police have also recovered the theft items, but in last 25 years why police couldn't perform ?", CM said. The Chief Minister further claimed that crime against women has been downed in Tripura and a country can not progress when women are not safe.
When the Chief Minister is claiming that Tripura’s law and order is totally under control, police’s website says a different story.
According to Tripura Police’s website total 45 murders, 237 theft cases, 94 violence, 94 attacks upon a group occurred in last 5 months. At the same time crime against women on spike.
Tripura experienced first ever lynching episodes in last 5 months, whereas there was no attempt taken by the BJP Govt in the Parliament to pass law against lynching.
