AGARTALA, July 28 (TIWN): A meeting was conducted at Press Club in Agartala today led by 38 artists, News Vanguard Editor Sebak Bhattacharjee and well known citizens aimed to help lynching victim Sukanta Chakraborty's family members on Saturday.
State’s prominent news-channel News Vanguard Chief Editor Sebak Bhattacharjee has briefed the media about the meeting’s decision.
The decisions which have been taken are :
- A fund to be created to help Sukanta Chakraborty’s family members with coupons of Rs. 100 or above that,
- On September 8th the collected amount will be handed-over to the family members of Sukanta Chakraborty. The invitation card to be available from September 3rd, from News Vanguard news office,
- A 42 members of committee has been constituted to run the programme. Artists Ajanta Bardhan Roy, Sanghamitra Nadi to perform on that occasion,
Sukanta Chakraborty was brutally killed on June 29 at Sabroom subdivision’s Kalachara area by violent mob followed by rumour-episodes of child lifters in Tripura.
The incident took place in 29th June afternoon when he was busy in awareness campaigning at Kalachara of Sabroom under SDM at there. The awareness campaigning was against “rumour mongering” which was rapidly spreading violence in the state.
During campaining huge numbers of people gheraoed the whole team and in that incident Sukanta Chakraborty died in front of police personnel.
