AGARTALA, July 23 (TIWN): In crucial meeting among India and neighboring Bangladesh Commerce body was conducted on Monday, it has been discussed how to develop the functioning of the border haats on the borders.
According to Govt of India’s press briefing it has been said, “The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Border Haats between India and Bangladesh singed on 8th April, 2017 provides for establishment of a Joint Committee to review the Border Haats operation, suggests modifications in the operational modalities and proposed new locations of Border haats”.
The Joint Committee also has visited Border Haats at Kamalasagar (Sepahijala District, Tripura) --- Tarapur (Brahmana Baria, Bangladesh) on Sunday. The haat has been functioning vibrantly but more changes have been suggested for better functioning.
However, a positive impact of Border Haats has been reported by both India and Bangladesh side.
It was also decided to setting up the six additional border haats that was earlier agreed by both sides.
