Agartala, September 12 (TIWN): In yet another serious question on the state’s safety and security, two teenage tribal girls were found dead near Takarjala South Higher Secondary School hostel at Takarjala.
Police officials from Takarjala police station said later this evening that the duo was identified as Sima Debbarma and Rina Debbarma both under 15 years of age.
Sima and Rina were later confirmed to have been students of the tenth standard at Takarjala South HS School.
The bodies were recovered 24 hours after they disappeared from the hostel, local sources said.
Based on preliminary investigation, the police said that three students living in the residential hostel reached out on a stroll when they were captured by a group of miscreants.
One Shayeri Debbarma managed to flee the clutches of the miscreants following which guardians of both missing girls were alerted.
Sima and Rina were raped, severely tortured and killed. They were found hanging on a tree, the cops said. Actual reason of death is still awaited as the post-mortem examination is underway.
Ex MLA and INPT youth leader Rajeshwar Debbarma urged the authorities to put all efforts to ensure that the criminals were brought to justice.
