AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): Alleging political interference in Anganwadi centres, a deputation was placed to the Social Welfare Dept Director by ‘Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union’ led by social activist Panchali Bhattacharjee on Tuesday.

After placing the deputation, Panchali Bhattacharjee when asked by media alleged heavy political interference in state’s Anganwadi cenres.

“Political persons, who do not belong to Education Dept are trying to control the Anganwadi centres. Instead of Education Dept officials, they are ordering the employees, workers to show their work-status, which is killing the working environment at there”, Bhattacharjee told media.

“They are not bound to answer any political or local people, rather Education Dept officials can visit anytime there”, she added.

Panchali Bhattacharjee further expressed concerns saying, if Anganwadi centre’s environment is polluted it will affect the society in larger scale victimizing the children, women and also the pregnant women.
