AGARTALA, July 10 (TIWN): Tribal Welfare Dept has helped Swapan Debbarma’s family with Rs. 50,000 who saved thousands of lives on May-15 by stopping a train before it met a major accident during flood and landslide period in state.
On Tuesday, Tribal Welfare Dept Minister Mebar Jamatia has handed over Rs. 50,000 cheque for Swapan Debbarma at Gorkhabasti office.
Ambassa to Agartala Railway track was identified as damaged, Swapan Debbarma with big leaves and his clothes signaled the train to stop and in this way he saved thousands of people’s lives.
After that few young passengers posted Swapan Debbarma’s photo in social media which made him popular overnight for his good work and sharp brain.
However, there is no development of Swapan Debbarma’s job issue which was promised by Chief Minister Biplab Deb by saying govt will talk to Railway Dept to arrange a govt job for Swapan Debbarma.
