AGARTALA, June 18 (TIWN): Keeping Bengali's ‘Jamai Shashti’ ahead, a day dedicated for foodies Hilsa fish’s price have been hiked heavily.
At Agartala Hilsa prices are shooting up at Rs. 1000, whereas in other subdivisions as Udaipur, Dharmanagar the prices of Hislas has been raised at Rs. 1400 per kilo.
Amid the presence of other fish items, state Bengalis prefer Hilsa for any family occasion and taking the opportunity the prices also go high.
Due to High custom rates, Indo-Bangla export of Hilsa has been dull in Tripura.
At the sweet shops also much gatherings can be followed and at the same time garment shops are making huge profits.
West Bengal, Tripura and other Bengali populated places have geared up to celebrate Jamai Shasthi on Tuesday.
Since the morning heavy demands of flowers, food items were witnessed across state's markets.
The busiest shops were the sweet shops, Hilsa fish and meat to fulfill the Bengali tradition of feeding the Jamai (son-in-law) in full stomach so that he keeps their daughter happy for the whole year.
Apart from that this celebration is a kind of getting together of all family members amidst busy daily lives.
Purchasing and gifting of clothes are an important tradition of Jamai Shashti and Agartala shop-keepers like every year received high profits.
