AGARTALA, June 10 (TIWN): CPI-M MP Jitendra Choudhury on Saturday has claimed, not a single person has died in poverty in last 25 years.
"It’s true that a major section of people in Tripura since CPI-M Govt’s time has been living in poverty but in last 25 years not a single person died in starvation", he said.
"Since 1988 to 1998, a crisis, mass starvation had started in Tripura. Today in the same direction the state is once again moving", Jitendra Choudhury said.
“Many people will say that it’s only few days Govt but in these few days, people are bound to sell their children. At the same time BJP, IPFT’s interference with MGNREGA works are snatching democratic rights of the people”, said Jitendra Chaudhury.
Today CPI-M leaders have met the Chief Minister demanding to arrange 100 days MGNREGA works according to law; and also as per govt of India’s law 150 days MGNREGA works should be given to the people who got 'patta' under Forest Act.
