AGARTALA, June 9 (TIWN): With the ongoing rumours about ‘Nipah Virus’, Tripura fruit sellers are facing heavy losses.
Alleging, ‘Nobody is buying fruits in fear of Nipah virus’, the Gol Bazar businessmen called media and have eaten fruits in front of media as a part of demo.
The businessmen also sought Govt’s help to aware the people that there is no Nipah Virus existing in Tripura.
Via media, the businessmen told the buyers, “Don’t be afraid. There is no Nipah virus threat in Tripura. "Please come and buy fresh fruits....".
Nipah virus (NiV) infection is a newly emerging zoonosis that causes severe disease in both animals and humans. The natural host of the virus are fruit bats of the Pteropodidae Family. Recently it was found in Kerala and out of that fear nobody is buying fruits in Tripura leading massive losses to the fruit businessmen.
