AGARTALA, June 8 (TIWN): President of India Ram Nath Kovind after meeting state’s sports talents as footballer Laxmita Reang, Kick Boxer Nishtha Chakraborty and others said, gymnast Dipa Karmakar is Tripura’s role-model as all of the state players considers her as their ideal.

While addressing at Rabindra Bhawan, Kovind said, “I met all of the sports talent of the state. I asked them what they want to become in their lives”.

“Each of the player told me that they want to play for the Nation. They want to represent the Nation and their ideal is none other than Dipa Karmakar”, Kovind said after meeting sports youngsters at Governor House.

Dipa Karmakar, is an artistic gymnast, who represented India at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She is the first Indian female gymnast ever to compete in the Olympics, and the first Indian gymnast to do so in 52 years.
