UDAIPUR, June 7 (TIWN): President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday during his visit in Tripura talked about the importance of mitigating the distance between Tripura and Bangladesh immediately as before the partition and independence Agartala was a centre of business and closed to Kolkata only at a gap of 600 km distance via Bangladesh.
“After the partisan Tripura and Kolkata’s 600 km distance turned 1700 km, which alienated the state. Now to mitigate the distance Railway is also being connected with Tripura and Bangladesh so that via Dhaka the distance become less”, he added.
“Once the National Highway and the pool over Feni river will be completed, then the communication will become more easy with the neighboring country and via Chittagong port people can reach here at a minimum time with less expanses”, said the President.
