AGARTALA, June 2 (TIWN): To motivate the state towards sports, Tripura's 2 sports icons and 1 sportsperson were felicitated on Saturday by state govt of Tripura.
Chief Minister Biplab Deb, Deputy CM Jishnu Debbarma, Sports Minister Manoj Deb remained present on that occasion.
Somdev Kishore Devvarman (born 13 February 1985) is a former professional Indian Tennis player. He hit the headlines for being the only collegiate player to have made three consecutive finals at the NCAA, winning back-to-back finals in his junior and senior years at the University of Virginia. Only three other players have matched that record since 1950. His 44–1 win-loss record in 2008 at the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship is unprecedented.
Dipa Karmakar, is an artistic gymnast, who represented India at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She is the first Indian female gymnast ever to compete in the Olympics, and the first Indian gymnast to do so in 52 years.
Laxmita Reang is a National level football star, represented the country at International tournaments.
