AGARTALA, June 2 (TIWN): Amid the ongoing rumours and allegations about plastic mixed wheat spread in state markets, 27 more fell sick today at Kamalasagar. All of the sick people have been identified as tea garden workers of Kamalasagar, under Sepahijala Dist provided with wheat from the Tea garden office itself. While spot visiting, the families told TIWN that from tea garden office the wheat were brought and after consuming rotis made out of those wheat, since many days some of the family members were feeling uncomfortable and ill. Slowly their health downed more and 27 are in serious condition amid ongoing medical treatment. Many were hospitalized after their health condition started worsening. The family members alleged that the wheat was mixed with rubber or something like plastic materials. "The wheat was mixed with rubber and there is no confusion about that. We have also informed the office and tea garden chief regarding this serious issue", one of the hospitalized patient said.
"Continuous stomache paining, vomiting along with other problems many more left sick in houses. We were later asked to return the wheat in the office", a family member of one sick person told media.
The stomache pains were felt immediately after they consumed the rotis. On the other side, tea garden head Rabindra Debnath has dumped all the blames upon the officials appointed in the Head Office.
The wheat looks beautiful but per kilo, at least 50 gram of rubber can be found. Later all the wheats were returned back but no govt official have visited the patients led resentment among the poor families.
