AGRATALA, May 22 (TIWN): Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain in his one day visit in Tripura while addressing at Agartala Railway Station said, “Modi Govt has taken all necessary initiatives for Northeast development.“Almost all the states in Northeast are now connected with Raillines except fewâ€, the Minister said. Gohain was addressing in a programme dedicated for the second service of Humsafar Express's launching from Agatala Railway Station in the presence of Chief Minister Biplab Deb. Gohain further said, "PM Modi had determined to develop Northeast. Today we have broad gauge in almost all the Northeastern states. Only at Sikkim, we couldn't launch BG service totally due to land acquisition problems. Tripura is undergoing tremendous changes, development due to Railway expansion and I can see that".
"Today across the country Railway is expanding its network, laying tracks to connect, join all the States. Within 2019 all Northeast states' capitals to be joined with BG connection", the Minister added.
Tripura Transport Minister Pranajit Singha Roy appealed Rajen Gohain to increase the service of express trains, which are almost running one day per week.
Rajen Gohain who is an Indian politician is currently a member of parliament, Lok Sabha and the Union Minister of State for Railways. He has represented the Nowgong constituency in Assam since 1999 and is a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
