AGARTALA, May 18 (TIWN): Local language once again made a place in Tripura politics, with CPI-M's tribal wing Gana Multi Parishad (GMP) sharply attacked the BJP Govt for removing Kokborok language as Agartala Airport's announcement medium.
Addressing in a press conference, GMP leader Radha Charan Debbarma said, "Since the BJP govt is in power, we have observed that Kokborok is no more existing as the medium of announcement at Agartala Airport. This is not acceptable".
"Kokborok language must be respected and recognised as Tripura's prominent language", he said.
"Earlier also it has been seen that Tripura govt is suggesting various TV channels to use Hindi instead of Kokborok to increased 'Nationalism'. We demand immediate re-launching of Kokborok in Agartala Airport, which was introduced by CPI-M govt", Debbarma said.
