AGARTALA, May 9 (TIWN): Uncontrolled eviction drive likely to turn heavy upon the newly elected BJP Govt as over 150 families today lodged protest after receiving notices to vacate their homes within 7 days, which are constructed on Govt lands. Letters issued on May 3rd, 2018 were served to at least 150 families residing on Howrah river banks at the Pratapgarh area in the Capital City Agartala. There is no alternative arrangement for the warned residents on the river banks. Most shocking part of the notice is that the decision was taken on 11-4-2018 that is only after 1 month of the Govt had assumed the charge. In the notice, Govt ordered them to release the spaces which are occupied by them but within next 7 days they have to release the place. The locals called MLA Ashish Saha demanding immediate cancellations of the letters. However, Asish Saha couldn’t give any immediate solution of the problem, saying he is looking into the matter.
"Now you are ordered to vacant the possession of the said land and remove all the structure. Otherwise you will be evicted from the said land as per law", the letter signed DCM Agartala East Revenue Circle said.
Till day the eviction drive was continuing against the party offices, but this particular decision of the govt to evict common men without any alternative arrangement has been condemned by the locals.
