AGARTALA, April 29 (TIWN): Ahead of West Bengal Panchayat polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Bengali litterateur Rabindranath Tagore for his visionary outlook and versatile knowledge in various fields.
“I can’t speak in Bengali, but since my childhood in radio I used to listen Rabindra Sangeet…’Aguner Paras Moni’… which gave me a different peaceful feeling”, Modi said.
“It was my habit to listen Rabindra Sangeet every morning”, PM said in Mann Ki Baat.
Modi was replying a citizen from West Bengal who alleged that even though Rabindra Jayanti is celebrated every year, but people have forgotten the ideology, philosophy of Tagore.
Modi said, “Gurudev Thakur was not only a knowledgeable person, but was a great teacher. He is an example that when you are a knowledgeable person, you have bigger responsibilities”.
