AGARTALA, April 23 (TIWN): Terming the speed-breakers as ‘unscientific’, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb said, “Speed breaker can never decrease the numbers of accidents, rather they increase chances of accidents”.

“Instead of using zebra-crossing to decrease speed, the previous govt had created many speed breakers across the state. But it rather increased the chances of accidents more”, CM said on road safety week’s inauguration at Astabal Stadium.

“Speed breakers can’t be seen and as a result a vehicle coming in high speed may met accident in the speed breakers and at the same time, it may hit the person who is coming from the opposite direction. The passengers inside the vehicle also may die due to a speed breaker led by high speed driving”, CM said.

Destroying all the existing speed breakers in Tripura, the Chief Minister has announced to introduce zebra crossing within March 18.
