AGARTALA, April 19 (TIWN): Police today busted a racket involved in illegal kerosene oil business in the Capital City Agartala. In a joint raid by AD Nagar Police, Food Dept and Sadar administration huge amount of kerosene were recovered from Drop Gate area.
AD Nagar Police informed, today in the morning police raided various shops and godowns in search of kerosene and other illegally stored items.
Police were informed via secret sources about the illegal storage at that area.
As a part of drive against anti-social elements, the police had raided the shops and godowns across Drop Gate area.
Nobody could be arrested yet, whereas the worth of the seized kerosene are expecting to be very high.
In Tripura corruption and irregularities in the kerosene distribution system has given rise to a thriving black market where it is sold at almost double the fair price, but hardly any action has been taken against the illegal marketing of the kerosene.
With the initiative of police, the local people are happy.
