AGARTALA, April 14 (TIWN): Ahead of Bengali New Year, on the last day of the year i.e. Chaitra Sankranti vegetable selling went high amid heavy prices of the items.
This is the day known as 'Chaitra Sankranti' famous for 'Paachan' which is now being preparing from house to house, a 5 items' mixed vegetable curry.
Green Jackfruits' selling are also on peak as this item is must in the "Paachan" preparation. Another item known as 'Tara' is also needed.
Many families only prepares curry with green jackfruit and potato and sometimes with onion and garlic, instead of Paachan.
However, food may vary from home to home, but in this Chaitra Sankranti food items are related with green vegetables.
On Phela Biashakh (tomorrow) all meat and fishes will be in the menu of Bengali foodies.
