AGARTALA, April 10 (TIWN): The NITI-Forum for Northeast meeting have decided to have Northeast led showrooms across around 700 Districts of India. At the beginning however the aim will be to set up at least across half of the districts.
The Forum believes that it will increase Northeast's visibility. "The 8 states of Northeast will be named as Astha Laxmi", said the Forum at Agartala after the first ever meeting held.
Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Rajeev Kumar said, "There are around 700 Districts in whole India and if among half of them the showrooms of Northeast are reached, then it will be a great display and also huge Northeast publicity for tourism".
Noteworthy, till 2016 there are a total of 707 districts in India, up from the 640 in the 2011 Census of India and the 593 recorded in the 2001 Census of India.
