AGARTALA, September 2 (TIWN): Chief Minister Manik Sarkar inaugurated the 1st Tripura State Art Exhibition-2014 organized by society for promotion of art at Nazrul Kala kshetra here this evening. The exhibition will continue till September 11.
Speaking in the exhibition CM Manik Sarkar said that the society for promotion of art was formed to work for the overall progress of visual arts as well as to look after the welfare of the artists of the state.
The objectives of the society include several activities to be taken up time to time to promote the works of the local artists and to provide benefits to the deserving artists as far as practicable organizing art exhibitions both within the state and outside, festivals on painting, sculpture and related activities, workshops, seminars so as to attract and encourage the young artists of the state, he mentioned.
A total of 89 artworks were displayed in the exhibition under six different categories namely painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, installation and photography.
